DESCRIPTION: Range Industries Ltd was formed to develop a new proprietary process for the
reprocessing of certain forms of plastic waste streams previously channelled to landfills.
JUDGES COMMENTS: Fantastic use of leading technology processes to utilise an essentially low value waste and cleverly formed into a pallet. The entrant provided quantified data and the judges congratulate them on their projections into the future as to what they can achieve.

DESCRIPTION: Through their partnership The Warehouse
and Enviroreel Plastics have been able to find a true recycling and reuse solution
which eliminates the environmental and ethical dilemmas associated with the usual
disposal pathways for material of this kind.
JUDGES COMMENTS: This project was exciting and stood out. It demonstrated identification of an issue, a supply chain approach to addressing it that went beyond all borders, demonstrating global responsibility. The key component was the incorporation of social responsibility - a full quadruple bottom line approach to the issue and in the solution.

ENTRY TITLE: Ecokraft Kraft Top Liner Supermarket Paper Bag
DESCRIPTION: The aim was to develop an alternative to
plastic shopping bags to contribute to Foodstuffs commitment to reduce the use
of plastic shopping bags by 20% by 2009 under the NZ Packaging Accord. Using
Ecokraft top liner in this application meets that objective.
ENTRY TITLE: Clearwater Organic Dairy Cream Top Yoghurt Tub
DESCRIPTION: Clearwater Cream Top Yoghurt is “set in the
pot” therefore the packaging must be
produced, delivered and stored in a way
that ensures no contamination.
DESCRIPTION: Since the introduction of the Mil-tek balers
into Fonterra sites we have baled and
diverted from landfill 3000 tonnes of card
and paper plus 1000 tonnes of plastic over
the last 3 years.
