JUDGES COMMENTS: The entrant had researched the costs and had thought in-depth as to how to market a product which is today considered "special" but tomorrow, "commonplace". The entrant had also appreciated the environmental aspects of the packaging which was simple, using materials and processes that would mean substantially reduced environmental impact from current practices. An innovative forward thinking, functional, environmentally considered entry.

| HIGHLY COMMENDED |
|
WINNER: Mathew Nagel, Institute of Technology & Engineering, Massey University
FOR: Recyclable Oil Container with Internal Disposable Bladder
DESCRIPTION: At present 4 litre oil containers are able to
be recycled at a cost of approximately $1-

JUDGES COMMENTS: Exciting to see someone address this very real challenge in New Zealand! The conceptual thinking and research to identify the issues and a possible solution was first class. Contamination of the outer packaging is still a very real issue for this particular design but there is overall potential. The judges urge the entrant to research the design further.
