Click here to download the full synopsis. JUDGES COMMENTS: Turning waste into gold is not easy however this entry has shown that "Kiwi ingenuity" and collaboration can overcome many hurdles. Making packaging from waste and enhancing its value. This entry is an excellent use of a by-product. Much research and development is evident in this innovative combination of material and processing design.

JUDGES COMMENTS: The reduction and substitution in use of expanded polystyrene for cushioning of large consumer items has been a dilemma for manufacturers for some time. The almost cradle to the grave consideration of environmental impact throughout the manufacture and disposal of packaging around this entry was excellent. In making this application the entrant has considered their responsibilities with significant reduction in energy and waste.

JUDGES COMMENTS: With its leading technological process this company has the ability to use different types of contaminated plastics and form them cleverly into a product. The process essentially diverts low value plastics waste which would otherwise go to landfill. The judges congratulate the entrant on their projections into the future and look forward to the increased uptake this process is anticipating.
