Description: Paper4trees is a well known community waste minimisation educational programme that has been running in New Zealand schools for over ten years. With over 2700 schools (and pre-schools) participating in the programme it is the largest of its kind in New Zealand.Paper4trees uses a simple concept to ensure success; incentivise recycling with resources and native trees.

Judge's comments: This is a national community waste minimisation education programme and Paper4trees have demonstrated compelling metrics of waste reduction and have created partnerships with other like-minded organisations.

Highly commended: The Glass Packaging ForumLove NZ

For: Love NZ Public Place Recycling Education

Description: The Love NZ public place recycling project is managed by the Glass Packaging Forum and funded from the Government's Waste Minimisation Fund, the Forum and Local Government. Over 2700 permanent or event recycling bins have been designed and installed to minimise the environmental impact of packaging at the end of its life.

Judge's comments: The judges were impressed by the excellent industry supported collaborative effort for public place recycling which they felt would achieve great results in the future particularly through large scale public events.
