Winner 1: Spring Humphreys
From: Fonterra

L-R: Spring Humphreys; David Carter, Lion Nathan; Nicky Wagner, National MP (representing the Minister for the Environment.)
Description: In 2003 Spring Humphreys was seconded away from his operational role to head up a new environmental initiative Fonterra was launching. The initiative became Fonterra's Eco-Efficiency Programme. Through Spring's commitment and leadership the Eco-Efficiency programme has introduced policies and practices aimed at minimising both the amount of waste generated and the amount of waste sent to landfill. This focus on reducing waste, reusing and recycling has emerged as a model of best practice and Eco-Efficiency is now implemented across 136 of Fonterra's sites, stores and offices around NZ including the consumer goods business and other subsidiaries of Fonterra nationwide.
