The Packaging Council is the only trade association representing the whole packaging life cycle, including raw material suppliers, packaging manufacturers, brand owners, retailers and recycling operators and waste service providers.
The Packaging Council has approximately 135 members, representing more than 80% of the packaging industry by turnover. The New Zealand packaging industry is valued at approximately NZ$2 billion. 75% of New Zealand’s top 100 food and grocery brands are manufactured by Packaging Council members, contributing NZ$17 billion to the New Zealand economy.
Increasingly, the Packaging Council is becoming the association of choice for commercial recycling operators and general merchandise retailers who want to embrace product stewardship and be part of a strong advocacy group.
Together we are designing sustainable packaging solutions for New Zealand that best fit our country and we are doing it at best cost. What works elsewhere is not necessarily the right model for a country the size and geographical shape of ours with a small population.
