The paper, plastic, glass, cans and tins you put into your recycling bin are sorted before being sent for recycling.

In July 2008, Visy Recycling opened a NZ$21.9 million recycling plant in Onehunga, Auckland that is even larger than their Sydney plant and is the most technologically advanced in the southern hemisphere, using the latest technology and outclassing anything that is in Australia.  The Visy recycling plant is a key component of Auckland and Manukau Cities' strategy to increase recycling rates by an additional 15-25 per cent.

It is able to sort up to 120,000 tonnes of packaging a year and heralds a new era in recycling for New Zealand.
