GreenChip was founded by Anthony Peyton in 2001 to provide advise to businesses to improve performance whilst reducing environmental impacts.

A number of the GreenChip specialisations include sustainable packaging assessment and design, food waste prevention, manufacturing resource efficiency and carbon accounting for products and organisations.

In late 2014, GreenChip in partnership with Planet Ark, launched the online Packaging Recyclability Evaluation Portal (PREP), which was developed with support from the Australian Packaging Covenant (www.prep.org.au).

The PREP is used by packaging designers and brand owners to determine whether consumer packaging in Australia can be classified as recyclable.  The PREP is used by leading organisations including Nestle, Blackmores, Unilever; Officeworks and T2 and is the world's first online self assessment tool for all forms of consumer packaging.  The PREP also underpins Planet Ark's recently launched Australian Recycling Label, which has been adopted by Officeworks, Blackmores and T2 (www.arl.org.au).
