Fuji Xerox announced as Finalists for the 2016 Green Ribbon Awards in the Business leadership category for demonstrating sector excellence in closed loop production and waste minimisation in their Product Stewardship Scheme.

Fuji Xerox New Zealand has been selected as a finalist for the business leadership category at the Green Ribbon Awards. The awards are a government initiative recognising outstanding contributions to protect and enhance New Zealand’s environment.

Fuji Xerox New Zealand was named as a business that takes a leadership role in sustainability, demonstrating sector excellence in closed loop production and waste minimisation through its Zero Landfill Stewardship Scheme.

Through reuse and recycling, the initiative aims to divert from landfill 99.5 per cent of all returned Fuji Xerox equipment, consumables and associated packaging.

The Zero Landfill Stewardship Scheme was formally accredited by Hon. Dr Nick Smith, the Minister for the Environment in May, 2015. It’s the 13th voluntary product stewardship scheme to be accredited in New Zealand since the Waste Minimisation Act was passed in 2008.

Managing Director of Fuji Xerox New Zealand Gavin Pollard encourages all businesses to do what they can to protect and enhance the environment.

“We hope that by leading our sector in the all-important area of product stewardship we can set an example for other businesses to contribute to the growing circular economy in New Zealand. We are immensely proud to be selected as a finalist.”

The winners of the Green Ribbon Awards will be announced by the Minister for the Environment and the Minister of Conservation at a ceremony at Parliament in June.
